Community Cafe, Montclair NJ

The client approached DDA with the notion to take a long neglected two family rental house sitting on a busy corner next to a train station, and turn it into a  vital community cafe that would serve activities as diverse as busy morning commuters’ coffee pick-ups and relaxing afternoon gatherings for book clubs.

DDA sought to capitalize on the basic charms of the Victorian Cottage by expanding the traditional detailing and adding a traditionally- styled porch. The overall feel of the design is warm and welcoming, a comfortable place to relax and engage with friends and neighbors.
