Audio Production Facility

The challenge issued by client Broadway Video was to create a facility that promotes openness and teamwork between quiet recording rooms and several noisy departments (reception, offices, kitchen, lounge, machine room). The entire floor is treated as one performance space. The “acoustic path” connects the bustle of the business center to the quiet of the recording area. The path follows a column-lined hall that encircles a video duplication area in the middle of the facility. By stretching out the room arrangement we encourage human interaction without isolating the recording engineers. By putting the recording rooms at the quiet end of the “acoustic path” the acoustically treated space includes an exciting view of Times Square and Broadway.
